It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Gertrude Mercer (nee Slade) announce the peaceful passing of a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister &  aunt. She was loved by all & will be greatly missed. Mrs. Mercer was 78 years old.  


She leaves with cherished memories:

Daughter: Debbie (Paul) Privitera

Grandchildren: Joshua, Jessica, Emma, Jenna, Mataeo & Sierra             

Sisters & Brothers: Patricia Martin, Leo (Ruth) Slade, Margaret (Max) Noseworthy, Anna (Les) Coombs, Ned (Edward)  (Elizabeth) Slade, Catherine (Wayne) Jordan, Mose (Eileen) Slade, Maurice (Elaine) Slade, Jim (Karen) Slade & Rick (Sherry) Slade

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Slade’s Funeral Home, serving Carbonear, Upper Island Cove, Bay Roberts and surrounding areas.     

Service Information:

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 3, 2017 from St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Carbonear with interment to follow at the Immaculate Conception R.C. Cemetery, Harbour Grace.

Visitation Times:

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at SLADE'S FUNERAL HOME, POWELL DRIVE, CARBONER, on Friday: 8 - 9 P.M., Saturday & Sunday: 10:30 A.M. -12 Noon, 2-5 P.M. & 7-9 P.M. & Monday: 9– 10A.M. 


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her loving memory to the Alzheimer's Society.


Please be kind to everyone you meet. Call a friend or relative you haven’t reached out to recently.

Visit a shut-in or nursing home resident. Forgive someone. All acts of kindness are appreciated.”

            -Mrs. Mercer lived her life believing in this.
