Mr. John Patrick McCarthy, 57, passed peacefully away on the morning of March 3rd, 2019 after a two year battle with cancer.


He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Mollie (Snow) McCarthy, his son Joe McCarthy and his wife Thomasina Rogers; and his two grandchildren: Layli, 9 and Owen, 1.


John was born on the 20th of November, 1961 to Elizabeth and James McCarthy. He also leaves behind 3 brothers: Paul (Stella), Mike (Hazel) & Gerard (Karen); 5 sisters: Margie Dean, Pauline (Pat Wheadon), Joanie (Don Parsons), Judy Noseworthy & Colleen (Lloyd Squibb); Mother-in-law: Dulcie Snow; Brothers-in-law: Gord (Sandy), Dave, Graham (Dora), Paul (Janice), Ruth (Wayne) & Bev (Paul); 3 Special Little Girls;; Emily Scott, Olivia Scott & Sarah Strange; Special Friend: Marion Fahey; Special Brother-in-law: Wayne Frampton and Special Friend: Bride Finn and family along with a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John was predeceased by both parents: brothers: Joseph, Patrick &  Gerald; and Brothers-in-law: Gordon Dean & Al Noseworthy..


John was heavily involved, loved and appreciated within our community. He will be sadly missed by many.


The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Carbonear.  Interment will follow at Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear


The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Slade’s Funeral Home, Powell Drive, Carbonear on Monday: 7-9 P.M., Tuesday: 10:30 A.M.-12 Noon, 2-5 P.M. & 7-9 P.M. and Wednesday: 9-9:30 A.M.


In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the John P. McCarthy Memorial Fund.
