Elizabeth and Edward (Ned) Slade saw their dreams come to light in Carbonear on September 26th, 1993. Over 200 people consisting of well wishers and friends gathered in the facility for its official opening. Edward (Ned) always dreamed of having his own funeral home and over years of dreaming the dream finally became a reality.
The plans for the new Carbonear funeral home began in 1991, with extensive research, speaking to families in the area and the need for families to have a choice in funeral services. Before long construction began in June of 1993 and at that moment it was evident that the Slade's weren't only pouring the foundation of the funeral home but they were also making a concrete foundation for their family and the families they were about to serve. The business wasn't being built with the dreams of big dollars and cents, it was simply being built because Edward (Ned) and Elizabeth believed that they were people destined to serve their fellow man. There were times when things seemed impossible but with the encouragement and pleasant gestures from the general public the Slade's kept their persistence and today that persistence has rewarded them immensely.
